New Construction x4 brings together at Solar a selection of works by four artists, all of Latin American origin, but who reside in the United States. In his adopted country, each artist has continued to interpret the strong tendency of geometric abstraction in Latin America. All of them are inheritors of the Constructivist ideals of the Taller Torres-Garcia that played such a significant role in shaping modern art in Latin America, and the intention of this exhibition is to exhibit the works that exemplify a contemporary expression of that artistic ideology and aesthetic: a rescue of Ancient and Pre-Columbian forms and symbols, the use of essential structures and iconography, and an embodiment of philosophical, aesthetic, and social ideals.
